Become a Direct Support Professional

This work is hands-on, personal and genuinely difficult some days. It is also one of the few jobs where you can see exactly what your presence changed. If that appeals to you, keep reading.

Why Nirvana

A small agency, and we mean that

We are not going to tell you we are the biggest provider in Ohio, because we are not. We were certified in December 2025 and we are still building. What that means for you is concrete.

  • Your email is read by the person who makes scheduling decisions
  • You are not competing with two hundred other names on a roster
  • We tell you honestly whether a shift is confirmed or still pending
  • When a placement is awarded, you hear about it quickly

An honest note about timing. Openings depend on referrals we have actually been awarded. We will never tell you a shift is yours before the contract is in hand. If something is still a possibility rather than a certainty, we will use that word.

What The Role Offers

What you can expect from us

$17 to $20 an hour

Where you land in that range depends on your experience, your certifications and the county. Mileage is reimbursed when you drive for work, and we will tell you the exact rate for a specific opening before you commit to anything.

Scheduling that fits your life

Tell us your real availability and the counties you can reach. We match against that instead of pressuring you into shifts that will not work.

Help getting certified

If you are missing CPR, First Aid or the DODD eight-hour orientation, we will point you to how to complete them and work with you on the timeline.

Room to grow

As the agency grows there will be lead and coordinator roles. People already here get first look at them.

Actual communication

You get a reply, usually the same business day. If we do not have an update, we will tell you that instead of going quiet.

Work that matters

One person, one household, one day at a time. You will know precisely who your work is for.

What We Look For

Requirements

Experience helps, but character matters more. We can train skills. We cannot train someone into being patient and reliable.

Before we can consider you

  • Driver's license, front and back
  • DODD eight-hour orientation certificate
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Social Security card, for I-9 verification
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Needed before a placement starts

  • BCI and WebCheck fingerprint receipt
  • Ohio BMV driver's abstract
  • Any additional certifications you hold, such as CNA, HHA or medication administration
  • Proof of auto insurance if you will be transporting anyone

Missing something on the first list? Tell us anyway. Some of it is quick to complete and we would rather help you get there than lose you.

The Process

What happens after you apply

You fill in the form

About two minutes on a phone. No account to create, no login, no attachments needed.

We reply

Usually the same business day, with any questions and a list of what documents we need.

Conversation

A real conversation about your experience, the counties you can cover and the hours you want.

Matching

We keep you in active matching and contact you when an opening fits. We are candid about timing.

Apply

Apply in about two minutes

No account to create, no login. Just tell us how to reach you and what you can work.

Certifications you already hold (tick any that apply)
Do you have a valid driver's license?
Are you authorized to work in the United States?

We reply within one business day.

Sending your resume and documents. This form deliberately does not take attachments, because most people apply from a phone and hunting for a file is where applications get abandoned.

Email anything you want us to see to NirvanaServicesLLC@yahoo.com, or wait for our reply and we will send you a secure upload link for your certifications and identification.

Useful whether or not you join us

Ohio DODD publishes free resources for Direct Support Professionals, including a newsletter written specifically for people doing this work.

Not sure if you are qualified?

Email us anyway. The worst outcome is that we tell you exactly what to complete first.
