Working in Delaware County

Delaware, Powell, Lewis Center, Sunbury and the fast growing north side of Columbus.

Delaware is one of the fastest growing counties in Ohio and the demand for support staff is growing with it. We are deliberately building a local bench here ahead of the placements rather than scrambling once one lands.

Getting around. US-23, I-71 and SR-315 all feed this county. Powell to Delaware is fifteen minutes. If you are north of Columbus, everything here is close.

Community Time

Where the work actually happens in Delaware County

A good part of this job is getting somebody out of the house and into their own community. Knowing the area is a real advantage, and if you already know these places you are ahead before you start. In Delaware County that regularly means:

Alum Creek State Park, including the beach in summer
Highbanks Metro Park
Preservation Parks of Delaware County
The Columbus Zoo, which sits right on the county line
Polaris for practical outings and appointments
Downtown Delaware and the Ohio Wesleyan campus

Referrals here come to us through Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the statewide system. We do not control when a case appears. What we do control is whether we already have somebody local, cleared and ready when it does, which is the entire reason this page exists.

What We Look For

Requirements

DODD eight hour orientation certificate, or willingness to complete it
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and current auto insurance
High school diploma or equivalent
Social Security card, for I-9 verification
Experience as a DSP, STNA, HHA, caregiver, home health aide or personal care aide is welcome. We also train the right person
